Quit applications

Application Wizard lets you quit single applications or groups of applications and background-only applications.

Action

Quit an application

Choose the application from the Quit menu.

Quit an application and close all its windows (when Resume is enabled)

Display the Quit menu, hold down the Command and Option keys, and choose the application.

Quit an application and keep its windows (when Resume is disabled)

Display the Quit menu, hold down the Command and Option keys, and choose the application.

Quit more applications at the same time

Display the Quit menu and select multiple applications by pressing the Shift key.

Quit all applications except the active application

Choose Quit Others from the Quit menu.

Use the ”Quit other applications” keyboard shortcut.

Quit all applications except the active application and close all their windows (when Resume is enabled)

Display the Quit menu, hold down the Command and Option keys, and choose ”Quit Others and Close All Windows” from the Quit menu.

Quit all applications except the active application and keep their windows (when Resume is disabled)

Display the Quit menu, hold down the Command and Option keys, and choose ”Quit Others and Keep Windows” from the Quit menu.

Quit all applications except one

Display the Quit menu, hold down the Command key and choose the application you want to keep running.

Quit all applications

Choose Quit All from the Quit menu.

Use the ”Quit all applications” keyboard shortcut.

Display the Quit menu, hold down the Command and Option keys, and choose ”Quit All and Close All Windows” from the Quit menu.

Quit all applications and keep their windows (when Resume is disabled)

Display the Quit menu, hold down the Command and Option keys, and choose ”Quit All and Keep Windows” from the Quit menu.

Quit all applications in a group

Display the Quit menu and choose Quit All from the group’s submenu.

If you have selected the ”Choosable group menu items” checkbox in the Menus pane of the Application Wizard preferences, choose the group from the Quit menu.

Quit all applications in a group and close all their windows (when Resume is enabled)

Quit an excluded application

Display the Quit menu and choose the application from the Excluded Applications submenu.

Quit all excluded applications

Choose Quit Excluded from the Quit menu.

Use the ”Quit excluded applications” keyboard shortcut.

Quit all excluded applications and close all their windows (when Resume is enabled)

Display the Quit menu, hold down the Command and Option keys, and choose ”Quit Excluded and Close All Windows” from the Quit menu.

Quit all excluded applications and keep their windows (when Resume is disabled)

Display the Quit menu, hold down the Command and Option keys, and choose ”Quit Excluded and Keep Windows” from the Quit menu.

Quit a background-only application or a background service

Display the Quit menu and choose the application or service from the Background Processes submenu.
